A Week's Review

One of these days, I'll get caught up and won't be writing about things that happened two weeks ago. One of these days. I had a very busy week, complete with actual social outings. Gasp! The hermit left her habitat not once but three times in the week, for something other than errands and work. In an effort to catch up to relevant events, here is what you missed, in three parts.

1) Two lunch dates with three lovely girls!

First, lunch at Red Cat with Vanessa and Cara. I love them! Apparently I decided to dress up as a little boy from a period film. What the heck. I don't know what to tell you guys. The hat made it even more ridiculous, but my ears were killing me and I needed something to cover them. Despite my odd little costume, we had a great lunch and they brought me my little envelope clutch (the ones we got to design/oversee at Coach). Pictures of that later! Outfit details: thrifted blazer, vintage beret, antique blouse, vintage bow, vintage belt, 4 stroke jeans? or maybe forever 21, vintage boots.

The next day, I had lunch at Ella with Pamela from Market Publique. After lunch, we headed over to their space down the street. They gave me these amazing vintage orange gloves that match my coat perfectly! I put them on immediately; my fingers were frozen. I'll give them a proper debut later in the week, now that the weather is going back to lower levels. I also picked up a really freaking cute necklace for a giveaway...wait until you see it next week! Outfit Details: vintage beret, vintage coat, vintage dress, forever 21 shirt, Market Publique vintage gloves, thrifted belt, Target tights, ModCloth shoes.

After our lunch, I fell down an entire flight of stairs at the station. It not only hurt like crazy, it also ruined the heels of my shoes. I am so graceful.

2) We rescued a pup and found a new home for him!

While thrifting in Long Island, we came across this little guy. He was tied to a pole with a rope and had no collar. We found out he had been there for over seven hours - someone abandoned him. We took him home, obviously! After calling shelters and posting on craigslist, we pretty much confirmed what we already knew - no one was looking for him. We found him a loving new home. Kim and I both cried when we dropped him off. He is the sweetest, cuddliest little pup. He just melts in your arms.

3) My Lloyd Dobler dreams came true!

Kim and I were surrounded by the Lloyd Dobler "Mobler" and they all held their boomboxes above their heads, playing "In Your Eyes." It was probably one of the best things that has ever happened to us. I was laughing so hard, I started tearing up. They didn't know it at the time, but I knew one of the Lloyds...so we knew what was going on. Yep, that's Bobby on the right!

A crowd of Lloyd Doblers went around the city with their boomboxes above their heads, in celebration of the 20th anniversary of "Say Anything." Some recipients were bewildered, others annoyed (I saw one in particular that looked so angry), but most got a huge kick out of it. One girl even posted on missed connections, saying how they made all of her dreams come true. That's a girl after my own heart! We couldn't help but smile all day.

Now you're all caught up! What was your week like?

That odd little costume was probably the coolest thing I've seen somebody wear. Ever. I. Love. It. Unfortunately you were immediately overshadowed by the adorable puppy...and it's so sweet you rescued him. I get so angry when people abandon helpless animals.

#2. How sweet you are to rescue him! Very fulfilling I'm sure!

Hahahaha what a great idea and a good way to make a lot of ladies smile too, probably! I loveeeee the idea. I want them outside of my window, NOW. haha.

Unbelievable that someone would abandon ANY dog, let alone one so freaking adorable and with such a sweet temperment. But maybe it was fate.... I would rather he stay tied to a pole for 7 hours, waiting for his hero to come rescue him, than stay with the evil person and be abused or neglected.

Also, you looked gorgeous while being a super hero. I just your blog through Style Symmetry and have added you to my blog roll. I look forward to following your daily style and adventures!! :)

Great outfits! The bow in outfit number one is an absolute must-have, I'm going to have to find something similar somewhere. ;)

Also, the setting of the second outfit pictures is amazing! You should use it more often. The rickety Brooklyn fire-escape reminds me of West Side Story somehow. :D

love,

Susan

That dog is just too too cute, it's so sad to think that anyone would abandon him. But the fact that you took the initiative to find a new home for him is a truly beautiful thing - you should be very proud of yourself!

a few things:

1) you're gorgeous! from another era... love your whole look.

2) I love your mix of the fall colors in your outfit on the stairs. The whole color palette is classic - but your mix of patterns makes it fresh.

3) The Dobler thing is perfectly magical and amazing -so cool! p.s. your friend's hair is on another level.

Three things: 1) I love your little boy outfit- it is so undeniably chic. 2) I also really like the flowered dress you wore with your orange coat. 3) Say anything is my favorite movie of all time, and it warms my heart to see that people still remember great movies.

That "Mobler" is freakin' AWESOME! Say Anything has been my favorite movie for a loooong time! When I found out it was husband's favorite movie when we first started dating, I knew we were meant to be :) I even made him a t-shirt several years ago that says "Lloyd Dobler present Cocoon"
