If I can just hold on tonight.

Keep your fingers crossed for me; I've been waiting out this horrible ailment for a week now and I'm hoping this is the last day I have to endure. I know I'm sick a lot and always have some sort of physical affliction - believe me, I know. If I could remedy that, I would. I've been this way my whole life; there is always something wrong with me and it takes me forever to recover from any sickness. I was probably my mom's most expensive kid, between my feet, teeth, allergies, general sickness and surgery. Sorry, least now I have to pay my own bills!

Sister, Sister

This was Amanda's first time at New York Fashion Week. I was a little bummed because I only got a couple of invitations to shows at the tents - and they were for the day before and the day after she was here. Although that didn't quite work out (we went to several shows and previews off-site), I was able to bring her to the tents (in the AmEx skybox, no less!) for an IFB hosted Q&A session with Fern Mallis, the Vice President of IMG and creator of NYFW. You can read more about the tweetup with Fern Mallis here. Big thank you to the amazing Jennine for inviting us (and for creating IFB in general, which is the lifeline of fashion blogs).

Amanda let me dress her in my own clothes, which was a ton of fun. We have completely different styles but were able to come to an agreement on this ensemble. I wish we would have gotten pictures of it without the load of things in her arm (and without the coat) but it was cold and we were in a hurry all day.

Amanda's outfit details:
1950s dress (underneath) - Beacon's Closet (I think? I can't even remember)
Early 1960s coat - Beacon's Closet
bow belt - thrifted
tights and shoes - hers
gloves - Hourglass Consignment (our mom's store)
bag - Coach
scarf - gift from my mom

These glasses were a lifesaver. My eyes were burning from the cold wind but sunglasses made the bleak day too dark. I allowed myself to wear them twice but then I just sucked it up and dealt with watery, burning eyes for the rest of the week. I should have bought goggles.

My outfit details:
blazer - thrifted
vintage slip
vintage 50s cardigan and gloves - gift from my mom
skirt - handmade, Postlapsaria
belt - Beacon's closet
tights - courtesy of We Love Colors
bag - courtesy of Coach
Blimey shoes - courtesy of Seychelles

Sheila Frank

Me and Diane

Sheila and Amanda

Me, Jen and Kelly

After a Q&A with NYFW creator and IMG VP Fern Mallis at Bryant Park, Amanda and I made a stop at Sheila Frank's presentation across the street. We immediately ran into the lovely Gala Darling, whom I met just a couple nights before at the Fashion 2.0 Social Media Awards. I had the pleasure of finally meeting Susan from ModCloth, and also caught up with Diane of Snapshot Fashion. On top of all that, I met a couple of fellow bloggers, Jen and Kelly, who were lucky winners of Diane's giveaway (they won invitations to the presentation).

Sheila's clothing had a macabre inspiration, with a theme of stalkers inspiring the entire presentation. Red was the prevalent color choice, and there were photographs displayed along the wall which completed the theme. We had to run to another show but I'm glad we were able to catch up with Sheila and so many other familiar faces.

Love love,

Keiko Lynn

So much love.

A couple weeks ago, I received two packages (from lovely readers) and a card that made me so teary eyed (in a good way). I just wanted to share these thoughtful gifts with you all:)

Monica Burnett sent me this adorable crocheted headband, which both my sister and I love. I'm actually surprised it is still here; I assumed Amanda would try and steal it.

Mascara or Motor Oil sent me this great vintage clutch and dainty bow necklace, which you will see in the near future (I wore it to the IFB conference).

My crafty and talented cousin Claudia sent me this handmade card and sparkly unicorn stickers!

and this was actually sent to me around the holidays but I never got around to showing you all...

Perhaps one of the most exciting packages of my life! I did a poor job or recreating the lovely packaging, but the insanely talented Kiersten Essenpreis sent me a print of my favorite painting, Cake Party! I was going to go and get it framed but instead, I'm searching for the perfect vintage treasure to frame it with.

A huge thank you to everyone for their generosity. I'm a lucky girl. The amount of love I receive on a daily basis is enough to brighten even my darkest days.

Love love,
Keiko Lynn

Rebecca Minkoff

NYFW has been over for almost a week but you'll have to pardon me, because I'm way behind. I have been extremely ill for the past few days and I have posts waiting in queue.

One of the first presentations I attended for fashion week (and actually remembered to photograph) was Rebecca Minkoff, whose collection was charmingly girly and readily wearable. I appreciate collections that I can easily picture in my closet. I often prefer the accessible to ground-breaking; I suppose I'm a very practical girl.

I know the clothing and handbags were the focal point, but I couldn't help but fall in love with the makeup. The lighting and my poor photography skills don't properly represent the popsicle stained lips and rosy cheeks...but I intend to copy this look and soon!

You can check out the rest of the collection here.

Keiko Lynn

I could tell when she kissed me, she knew how to give a kiss.

You can see little Miku's ears in the bottom corner. She is my constant companion.

This one is for my mom. She cringes when she sees bad posture (I have horrible posture, especially when I laugh; I need to work on that). I like to give her a hard time.

MAC Russian Red...this lipstick never quits.

The first time I wore these shorts, I got a lot of negative feedback. Don't worry, I am not expecting anything different this time around. I understand that they are not for everyone, but after much consideration I have decided that they are staying in my closet. I completely respect your opinions, but sometimes I just have to stand by my own taste, you know? I will probably look back on this and think, "they were totally right, these are horrible." Right now, however, I think they're fun. I consider my clothing choices little booster shots of varying emotions. Cheerful colors make me happy, soft colors make me feel romantic, so on and so forth. On this particular day, I was in major need of a pick-me-up, so I put on the brightest of reds. Naturally, I made sure my lips matched.

Outfit Details:
red beret - from a cute little lady who used to sell her handmade hats at the flea market...for 50 cents and $1!
vintage sweater - thrifted
navy top - forever 21
navy belt - thrifted
vintage shorts - Jet Rag, Los Angeles
tights - H&M
shoes - Calvin Klein, from Beacon's Closet
Miku - she slid down a rainbow that originated in Candy Land
lipstick - MAC Russian Red (I didn't have to reapply all day. This is serious stuff.)

Love love,
Keiko Lynn

p.s. I regret that my beret is not a raspberry hue, but I gave that one away to a lovely model well over a year ago. Rest assured, I will find another one and I will listen to Prince every single time I wear it. I'm actually listening to that song right now, hence the title. Where have all the raspberry women gone?

The winner is Allie (allie07421). Congratulations!

We all know that I love being obnoxious on holidays, but the best part of Valentine's Day 2010 is that it fell right in the middle of NYFW. I showed up to Spice Market looking like a walking valentine. Regardless, the outfit got a lot of smiles and we had a great time. It was so nice to catch up with some of my favorite blogger ladies (Erin of Cali Vintage, Rebecca of The Clothes Horse, Kelly of The Glamourai) and the amazing gals behind Modcloth and Chictopia. Our personal table was a lot of fun, with Krystal of What Is Reality Anyway?, Kelly, Carolina Engman of Fashion Squad, Mattias (cofounder of Bloglovin) and Turi of Modcloth. Wow, that was a lot of links. Anyway, we had a delicious and leisurely lunch, stuffed ourselves silly and then went on our way.

Basically, my Valentine's day was filled with a ridiculous amount of food. I ate a huge lunch and a comparably gluttonous dinner and finished it off with cheesecake. It's important not to forget what holidays are really all about: eating treats without feeling quite as guilty about it.
