The weather was dreadful yesterday. I'm usually a fan of rainy days, but I think it's because I grew up in Florida thinking that a rainy day was either a sunny day with welcome, sporadic showers or a straight up hurricane. Hurricanes are awful - I've lived through some doozies - but when I was little, I enjoyed the days off of school, the camp-life living, hurricane parties and playing in the fallen trees. New York rainy days are just cold, dark and very wet.
Since we couldn't take Miku for her playtime at the dog park, we headed to Red Hook to eat lobster rolls and chowder. Bobby had a shrimp roll, because he doesn't know what life is, but he'll figure it out sooner or later. If you haven't had a lobster roll from the pound, let it be known that they are really good and reasonably priced. Perhaps it's because I'm accustomed to the Brooklyn Fish Camp $35 price tag for a tiny roll, but at $15 with chips and a pickle, Red Hook's prices are alright by me.
After our delicious meal, we headed back to the apartment so that I could hide my wretchedly frizzy hair under a hat, then headed to a Gucci cocktail party and preview at Cipriani. As glamorous as that sounds, I fell while walking down their stairs. Hands and knees, bam. Karen was a witness. The end.

I love rain, recently.

Sorry about the fall =/ I hope you didn't hurt yourself. Somehow that kind of stuff happening I find really endearing (of course, I probably won't when it happens to myself) if the person's okay. It's very "real life". You look great, I love the top!
ReplyDeleteJeez, woman, how do you manage to look so good, even in the rain?! I love everything about this outfit but specially those shoes!
ReplyDelete:-( I'm sorry that you fell, glad you didn't hurt yourself though. I'm sure you were still a hit at the party though!

Those. Shoes. Are. So. Cute. And they go perfectly with that lovely outfit :)
ReplyDeleteIt's been yucky here in San Diego, too :( But unfortunately, that just means I'm mainly in sweatpants, instead of looking fabulous like you!

It's raining over here too! (Canada) pouring more like. Which means no going out at all...-sigh- staying at home in the gloomy weather doing, well nothing.
ReplyDeleteI love your shoes, they really flatter your legs :)
I LOVE this outfit! Sorry to hear the you fell. I'm miss clumsy herself so you have my sympathy!
ReplyDeletethis may be a random question - but does the skirt crease much when you wear it out? i saw it in h&m but the ones out on the rail were all so creased & i felt a compulsion to iron them flat so that i could see what they really looked like when looked after properly! (yeah ok, i'm a little ocd). You wear it wonderfully though - dainty & creaseless..

Lovely outfit! Those shoes are amazing as well :)
ReplyDeleteAnd oh, my. I haven't been living at all, then, since I haven't even tried lobster! I'm Asian, Filipino to be exact, and there's not a lot of lobster in our cuisine. Oh well. I will sample those crustaceans one day.
Katie: It doesn't, surprisingly. I was afraid it would but after a good steaming, it stays pretty wrinkle free throughout the day. I don't know why stores put things out on the racks like that. They need an industrial steamer!
ReplyDeleteHannah: Oddly enough, I don't even love lobster that much. I'm a bigger fan of crab. But lobster rolls - so delicious!
love the cat eye glasses

ReplyDeletewow- those shoes were a bold move in such weather. it's been rainy and 45 degrees all week here too. WHAT GIVES. also that food looks sooooo goood. we're moving to new york in august and i've been looking all over for good food places for poor grad school kids with fin(er) palettes.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful outfit. And ugh, I need those shoes. Badly.
ReplyDeleteI also remember hurricane days fondly--in high school, especially, when my friends and I would hold impromptu hurricane parties when we were stuck inside the house with no electricity on a humid South Florida day. Rainstorms in New York are terribly underwhelming in comparison.
"bc he doesnt know what life is" you are too funny. i too loved hurricanes as a kid growing up on the jersey shore. it meant we could literally swim down the street. we'd get out rowboats and our bathing suits and celebrate the bay on our lawn.
ReplyDeletexxoo
the scallopped skirt bottom is too perfect. and you make rain look not half bad :)

ReplyDeleteGorgeous..I'm so in love with this skirt! Did you go darker with your hair color or is it the lighting? I just had my hair cut and colored on vacation in SC and it ended up almost black but I'm getting used to it!
