Shop For Adopt: Recap

With the holidays and my trip home, I haven't had a chance to update you all on the Adopt NY fundraiser, Shop for Adopt. In just two hours, we raised over $2,000 that will go toward veterinary care for animals affected by Hurricane Sandy - and on January 6th, I'll be joining Adopt NY in the Rockaways for their relief day! I'm glad the money we raised will help out with their effort. Please consider donating directly if you can afford to; every penny counts.

And speaking of donations, a huge thank you to BollareCoachJuicy CoutureTiffany & Co.SeychellesCorey Lynn CalterGeorge Gina & LucyZoomiesBonLookKeep It SweetTumbleweeds Handcraft80/20ThreadsenceCynthia VincentTieksDapper DeanNifty Thrifty,  Emerging ThoughtsSuper7ParkerBonfaireTrina TurkToo FacedUrban DecaySockerbitTwo ArmsJamie BeckHonest Tea, and Izze, and all of the wonderful bloggers who donated from their own closets. We couldn't have done it without you.

Here's some snapshots from our event:

2) Co-host Kim of eat.sleep.wear.
3) The crowd starts shopping.
4) Honest Tea and their wonderful rep Jordan kept our thirsts quenched. My personal favorite is the half n half, which I drink regularly because it is delicious. It also doesn't hurt that they happen to be a very generous, wonderful company!
5) Pulling raffle tickets to choose some winners.
6) Lucky Joy with her new Tumbleweeds Handcraft glasses. She also ended up winning a gift card for  a pair of Seychelles! I'm also pretty sure she was the winning bidder on one of the Coach bags, and purchased some blogger donated items. Thank you for the support, Joy!

Top to bottom, left to right:

1) Alicia, Justin, and Christine stopped by to show their support.
2) Bobby gives a thumbs up to beverage sponsor Izze:)
3) Urban Decay donated an amazing basket of goodies.
4) Tieks, the makers of my new favorite ballet flats, donated a ton of gift cards!
5) Samara, manning the raffle table.
6) Juicy Couture and Trina Turk coats up for auction. I was the winning bidder on the coat on the right!
7) Coach and Seychelles donations.
8) Danny in his new Tumbleweeds Handcraft sunglasses.
9) Lovely co-host Gala Darling with her Keep It Sweet baked goodies.
10) Lindsey and Christine both had their eye on this Juicy Couture coat. Christine was the winning bidder, but I bet you could've guessed that!
11) And finally, Vester says thank you to everyone for their support, on behalf of rescued animals everywhere.

Snow bird

Outfit Details:
hat - vintage
cotton day dress - vintage
belt - vintage
trench - Old Navy (last year)

Don't be fooled by the pictures; I'm still in Florida. These were taken before the holidays. I've just been busy spending time with my family and working on a few projects, so I haven't had a chance to edit many photos. I'm having a great time with everyone and the little ones have been keeping us busy. I'm also enjoying the warm weather and dread returning to real winter, but I do miss that little Miku and can't wait to squeeze her and kiss her precious face. Look at her! She's glowing.

Ocean City

Outfit Details:
vintage shirt - Nifty Thrifty (bought at the Shop For Adopt fundraiser)
jeans - 7 For All Mankind
Legacy Leather Duffle - c/o Coach
red leather flats - c/o Tieks
Ray-Ban original wayfarers
lipstick: MAC Russian Red
Florida has me completely fooled right now: I almost forgot that it's Winter. I've been living in vintage cotton tees and jeans for most of my trip - and even though I brought several pairs of shoes with me, these little red flats have been on my feet almost every day. I now have scuffs all over the toes, because I trip over my own feet every few minutes if I'm not paying attention and keeping them straight. That's just the life of a pigeon-toed gal. It's kind of amazing that I don't fall more often, considering that most of my shoes are ridiculously tall.

I'm heading back to Brooklyn on New Year's Eve, because I have so many awesome parties to go to and sooo many boys to kiss at midnight because the flight was a lot cheaper and I have a hot date with Detectives Benson and Stabler. Bobby is working and I am a loser, so SVU will have to do/will be the best thing ever. I'm happy to get back to Miku, the cats, and Bobby, but I'll be missing Florida and the weather and family that come with it. Luckily, I'll be back in March for Cotton's 24 Hour Runway Show (enter here), so it won't be too long that I'm away. The kids grow up too quickly - if I'm away for more than a few months, I feel like I've missed out on their whole childhood!

Speaking of the kids, I went completely overboard with their Christmas presents. I didn't realize it until I was wrapping them for two straight days and completely ran out of tags (even though I bought 50 and was taping presents together to stretch the tag usage). But they deserve it, because I have the best niece and nephews, ever. I also have the best sisters, and by sisters I mean Tessa, because she's my favorite. The rest are alright, I guess. No offense, guys. No offense. ;)

Hope you had a great holiday!

Makeup Monday: Brown Fade

(click for larger images)

Makeup used with the Lookmatic Shelby frames (use code keikolynn20 for 20% off through Dec 31st):

1) Too Faced Natural Eye palette (I used the middle "classic" row)
2) Urban Decay 24/7 liquid liner in Demolition
3) Urban Decay 24/7 pencil in Demolition
4) Smashbox Blush in Heartbreak
5) Smashbox lipstick in Latte Matte
(I also used UD primer potion underneath the eyeshadows, Too Faced Beauty Balm in Vanilla Glow on my face, and MAC Studio Fix Lash in brown.)
For my second Makeup Monday installment with Lookmatic, I picked the Shelby frames in brown fade and pulled the focus toward the eyes. To keep my eyes from disappearing behind the lenses, I went with a smokey brown gradient that mimics the frames' own fade. This is a look you can do in a handful of simple steps:
1) Apply primer from lid up to brow bone, and on lower lashline.
2) Sweep Silk Teddy (or another light, shimmery neutral) across brow bone and on inner eye.
3) pack Push-up (or a medium neutral) on lid.
4) Sweep Erotica (or a dark brown) in outer crease and outer v of your eye, bringing it down to your lashline at the outer corners. Blend, blend, blend. This should look like a seamless transition between the colors.
5) Line your upper lashline with liquid liner. For tips on creating a cat-eye, click here.
6) Line your lower lashline and waterline with pencil, then sweep Erotica (or dark brown) across your lower lashline. Blend, and add more liner if necessary.
7) Add mascara, blush, and lipstick. Now you're done!

Ready Is

Bobby's Outfit Details:
jacket - Topman
shirt - J.Crew
glasses - Bonlook Jungle Chic

Bobby is forever on the go. Working as a bartender at two different locations means he's mixing drinks and being social day and night; he often works from the early afternoon until the wee hours of the morning. His busy schedule even keeps him from going home for the holidays, so I give him his gifts early, and it often includes a new fragrance, since he likes to switch it up a lot. HUGO BOSS asked us to participate in their #ReadyIs campaign, test out their BOSS BOTTLED and BOSS BOTTLED.NIGHT. fragrances and show how they can keep a man ready day and night. I took that literally and documented Bobby's shift from day to night - from casual and fuss free to buttoned up and ready for work. He paired the BOSS BOTTLED fragrance, which is fresh and light with a hint of warmth, with a more casual look for day. This one is my personal favorite of the two; it can work for day or night.

Outfit Details:
shirt and tie - H+M
suspenders - thrifted
tie bar - vintage
pants - Zara

Bartending isn't just about mixing drinks - it's a must to be hyper-social and active throughout the night. BOSS BOTTLED. NIGHT. has a deeper, overtly masculine scent that can permeate a crowded bar scene without being overpowering.

Share what #ReadyIs on twitter or with HUGO BOSS on their #ReadyIs site - we'd love to hear your thoughts!
p.s. Thank you, HUGO BOSS, for giving Bobby and me a chance to work together! It was nice to be on the other side of the camera. He's a photogenic guy, isn't he?
