Kelsi Dagger booties - Gilt
MAC mini - c/o Rebecca Minkoff

This title has nothing to do with the post - it's just what song happens to be on, right now. If I want to stretch it a bit, I guess I'm wearing a lot of shadowy tones? Sure, that's it.

I'm about to leave on a flight to Los Angeles, so I have no time to think of a better title. But maybe you should listen to that song (Kim and Jessie), because M83 is one of my favorites.

Makeup Monday: Moon River Manicure

I had a completely different post planned for today (skincare) but had to reschedule for next Monday (it will 100% be posted next Monday!), so I scrambled to get this one together before midnight. Because I'm sure you all are tired of me saying "Makeup Monday...on Tuesday!" It just doesn't have the same ring to it.

I was inspired by these Kate Spade shoes that I posted here, so I chose a gold and turquoise combo. I thought of adding the black detail, but really liked it without it. Maybe next time!
Of course, I'm not claiming I invented this method of half moon manicures - it's been around forever. But if you haven't done it before, I also included a step by step tutorial. I hope you enjoy!

Here's what I used: paper reinforcements (found in the office aisle of most stores), Orly Rubberized Basecoat, Ginger + Liz Got My Groove Back, MAC Salad Dressed, Out The Door fast drying top coat.

I walk out in the flowers and feel better

Outfit Details:
hat - H+M
glasses - Ray-Ban
Alice Ritter trench - Bird
American Apparel cable knit sweater and polka dot shirt - American Apparel
Citizens of Humanity floral pants - Shopbop
socks - HUE
Joie wedges - c/o Joie
handmade leather doctor bag - borrowed from Bobby (made by a guy at Artists and Fleas - if you know his name, please let me know!)
bracelet - vintage
watch - c/o Coach
ring - c/o Sorrelli
nail polish - my new favorite, Play Day by MAC

I have worn these pants half a dozen times since I bought them - each time, in a different way (unlike this repeat outfit). I guess you wouldn't think that floral pants could be such a staple in anyone's wardrobe, but the color palette is just subtle enough that the pattern almost acts as a neutral. Don't be surprised if you see these pants pop up in future outfit posts...I'm a little bit in love.

On that topic: I'm usually not a pants girl, since I have a hard time finding pairs (that aren't jeans) that fit me properly. But lately, I've been wanting to add a few to my closet. I'm a little bit pear shaped, and find that they are often too big in the waist or they flatten my butt/pull at the hips. Any brand suggestions?

P.s. thanks you for all of the jeans suggestions, but I'm actually looking for non-jeans pants. I have great luck with Hudson, J Brand, Paige, some Levis and believe it or not, forever 21! I especially recommend the Hudson Georgia may mid rise for people with my shape.

how many roses are sprinkled with dew?

Outfit Details:
floral blouse - random boutique in LA (I paid less than $20 for this)
red cutout dress - BB Dakota
heels - Nine West
Rebecca Minkoff Sweetie - Confederacy
double pyramid ring and samurai cuff - c/o Sorrelli
lipstick - MAC Russian Red
I wore this same dress/blouse combo while I was in Los Angeles, so if you recognize the outfit, be cool. No one else has to know.

I wouldn't normally call myself out like that but I already tweeted a picture and posted it on instagram in still life form, so there was no getting around it. Actually, that's a lie about me not normally calling myself out, because I blow up my own spot all the freaking time. I don't want to brag, but it's one of my many talents.

Seychelles Dream Closet Video

Seychelles Dream Closet Vol. 2: Keiko Lynn Groves from Seychelles Footwear on Vimeo.

Flickr seems to be down, at the moment - so today's outfit post will have to wait until tomorrow. In the meantime, check out this slightly embarrassing video from when my friends at Seychelles came to visit me in my tiny Brooklyn apartment. I asked my mom and Tessa to find some good pictures of me in my ubiquitous tie/blazer combo from senior year of high school, but apparently high school pictures of me are you get to see some of me from Junior year, during my pins all over my bag phase. Woo!

p.s. Sorry, Jason (my prom date) - I didn't cut your head off (whoever took the picture did).

Rebecca Minkoff F/W 2012

Rebecca Minkoff's shows always have a little something special - for Spring 2011, Rumi of Fashion Toast modeled her namesake dress in their presentation, then for Fall 2011, they had a beautiful and haunting performance by Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger (Sean Lennon and Charlotte Kemp Muhl's band). For Spring 2012, Leandra of The Man Repeller walked the runway, and Fall's show featured a catchy live performance from Theophilus London. I think I'm seeing a pattern. Spring = blogger turned model, Fall = live show. Clearly, I'm a top-notch detective.

I'm obviously a fan of Rebecca Minkoff - you can tell by the fact that I wear that business all the goddang time. That being said, my two favorite looks were the ones modeled by Wang Xiao - I especially love the last look's playful cutouts. Which look was your favorite?

Makeup Monday: Call Me Bubbles

I don't know about you, but I'm ready for Spring. I'm ready for color. When I received a box full of MAC's Spring goodies, I immediately went for this quad of shadows, Call Me Bubbles. If this look from last year is the fiery sunrise, this is its sunset counterpart - a rich, shimmery quartet of warm hues that is perfect for the winter to spring transition. And about that lip color: I've made it known that I'm not a huge fan of lip gloss (on me), but this is like a perfectly creamy lipstick in a gloss tube. I'm obsessed!

Want to learn how to recreate this look? Keep reading after the jump for a step by step tutorial.

Kate Spade: NYFW F/W 2012

Kate Spade F/W 2012. Creative Director: Deborah Lloyd. Styled by Brad Goreski; illustrations by Garance Doré.

Kate Spade delivered a whole lot of color in their ode to Paris, with a mix of pattern and textures, as well as envy-inducing fringe on their lovely models. I will have that red dress (second picture) in my closet. I will.

What was your favorite look?

p.s. Makeup Monday will be up tonight, after I finish my bank run and hopefully sign a lease. Fingers crossed!
