Makeup Monday: Golden Girl

Get the look: Urban Decay Primer Potion, Sugarpill Goldilux, Stila Magnificent Metals Eye Shadow in Vintage Black Gold, Butter London Inky Six Eye Pencil and Inky Six mascara, Hex Nail Jewelry "Love" charms and petite linked hearts. Lipstick: MAC "Mehr".
I love any look that makes a big statement without requiring a lot of work, and that's exactly what this whole look was about. I used the mixing medium that comes with Stila's Magnificent Metals shadows to create this easy look, using it with both my loose Goldilux shadow and the Vintage Black Gold. I mixed a little bit of the liquid with each of the shadows,  then used my finger to dab them on my eyelids (Goldilux on the inside and black gold on the outside), as demonstrated by Stila's lovely Sarah Lucero in this video. I layered for more intensity, but it also looks really pretty as a light wash! I also smudged Butter London's dark blue pencil on my lower lash line and added their vivid blue mascara. I'm a big fan of their polishes, so I was really excited to try some of their makeup. They have some really great colors.

Now, about the nails. I got them done at Sakura on the Lower East Side. I added the charms from Hex Nail Jewelry, myself. They say "Love Love" - kind of perfect for me (or anyone in my family), really! Charms are a great way to wear nail art without having to spend a lot of time perfecting your polish technique - and the best part is, these particular charms are only $1.75 and can be reused more than once. I just have to decide which ones I want to wear, next!

Ecco Sculptured 75

Wearing: Ralph Lauren Denim & Supply jacket, American Apparel dress, Ecco Sculptured 75 Ankle Boots and bag.

Last week, I had the pleasure of hosting a private event with Ecco in honor of their new collection, Sculptured 75. We gathered at The Standard Hotel, where our friends and their guests enjoyed cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, a meet and greet with designer Niki Tæstensen, and a walk along The Highline in their new Ecco shoes. I normally wouldn't walk anywhere in the Meatpacking District in heels, but I have to say that these are the most comfortable heels I have ever worn (and I didn't trip, once). They didn't even need any breaking in - so many of my friends ended up changing into them after trying them on. Success! Every gal went home with their own Ecco leather bags and a pair of shoes - either the Baroque, Shoetie, or the Ankle Boot. Pretty great party favors, am I right?

Thank you, to the wonderful Ecco team and all of the lovely ladies and gents who came out for the event.

It's all fun and flamingos.

Outfit Details:
Topshop neon coat
vintage dress
Kate Spade sunglasses
Via Spiga "Wray" boots (c/o)
rovimoss first class satchel (c/o)
MAC Girl About Town lipstick

I was walking through Brimfield, perusing the antiques and oddities, when I spotted this lonely flamingo in need of a home. Even though I was supposed to be looking for an old farm table and perhaps a sofa, at the moment it seemed like an extraordinarily pressing purchase. The heart wants what the heart wants. In retrospect, it was an extraordinarily awesome purchase. I carried him around all day, and you wouldn't believe what a conversation starter it was. Or maybe you would, because who wouldn't want to talk to a person with a flamingo under her arm? I started wondering what it would be like to be the guy who walks around with his cat perched on his head (New Yorkers, you know what I'm talking about). Well, I didn't actually think about that at the time, but I did just now and it's worth a mention. Anyway, I named him Floyd because he's pink (get it?) and I like alliteration in small doses. The end.

p.s. I didn't get a sofa, but I found a table.

Tut tut, looks like rain.

While in Massachusetts for Brimfield, it rained every single day. As soon as I left, the rain stopped. I'm in Florida right now, rainy. Watch - it will clear up as soon as I leave. It's just a fact: I bring dreary weather wherever I go! I told you.

Luckily, I actually don't mind the rain, and happen to have quite a few cute umbrellas (and rain boots) that make them a little more enjoyable. I wore this rainy day ensemble - what wasn't intended to be a rainy day ensemble at all - for my third post as one of Westfield Style's Tastemakers. You can view the rest of the photos, post, and outfit details over at Westfield Style.

boy meets girl

Outfit Details:
Forever 21 shirt
Bobby's bow tie
vintage skirt
Seychelles Ampersand heels
Isabella Fiore bag
BonLook Jungle Chic glasses
The trouble with instagram is that sometimes, I forget that it's separate from this blog. I instagrammed this outfit and it made me think I posted it here, too...but I never did get around to posting the actual photographs. Now that I'm in Florida, visiting family, it's the perfect time to dust them off and finally post them.
I'll be in Florida all this week, back in New York for a few days, and then off to St. Louis (more on that, tomorrow). My older sister is having a baby girl, so we threw her a baby shower on Saturday. Today is Ryder's 2nd birthday, so we celebrated with a minion-themed birthday party, yesterday - complete with a bounce house and a snow cone machine. Today, we're celebrating all of the September birthdays with a family dinner. Needless to say, it has been quite a busy few days around my sister Amanda's house. But it's nice to be home.

Harlyn Darlin'

Outfit Details:
Harlyn dress (c/o)
Custom Coach Madison clutch (c/o)
Betsey Johnson heels (old)
Ray-Ban RB5226 glasses
Alice and Olivia belt
Yesterday was my birthday, and it may have been the best one, yet. Bobby spoiled me rotten with a new Macbook (!!) and a beautiful dinner at North Fork Table, and I made friends with baby cows and goats and even a llama. I don't really know how it can get better than that, but it actually did. I usually don't celebrate my birthday in any significant way, but this one was really, really great. Next week, I'll be taking a trip to Florida to see my family, help with my big sister's baby shower, and celebrate my nephew Ryder's birthday. There are a lot of wonderful people who were born in the month of September - many of my favorites, really. Today is my grandma's birthday, and yesterday was also my grandpa's, so let's all wish them a happy one. Happy birthday, Grandma and Grandpa!

Fashion Week Survival

New York Fashion Week is over, and even though it was fun, my feet are forever grateful for the reprieve. But for those of you partaking in fashion month - or even if you're headed to an all day event - I suggest you check out my Fashion Week Survival Kit post on Westfield Style. I carried these with me at all times (although my flats weren't those glittery gems; they're plain black) and they saved me from many sticky and not-so-glamorous situations.

p.s. As one of Westfield Style's designated Tastemakers, I am compensated for my contributing articles.

City Girl, Country Heart

Before fashion week and the heat wave that came with, I took a short trip through the country to spend some time with Bobby and slow down for awhile. The weather was so cool, I brought my blanket-like cape to go with my knee high SOREL boots - which is crazy, since today I resorted to sandals and a breezy (very summery) dress. It was the perfect prelude to Fall, which has been teasing us with its comings and goings.
