Rewear and Remix

Outfit Details:
Topshop toggle coat (from last year)
BDG sweater (on sale)
Zara scarf
thrifted scalloped suede mini skirt
Alberto Fermani over the knee boots
Miu Miu sunglasses
vintage Coach bag

As I mentioned in my last post, I tend to wear things frequently and keep them throughout the years. I've already had these boots resoled once and had new zippers put in the black version, because I've worn them so much. As for the coat, I must have worn it a hundred times. I get a little peeved when I see or hear criticism for over-wearing any certain item; it makes no sense to me. After all, isn't that the point of the purchase - to get as much wear out of it as possible? I don't like to buy anything new unless I can imagine several ways to wear it without getting sick of it. Notice that I said "new" - that's because I have a nasty habit of buying vintage clothing that requires a very specific occasion. If I'm ever invited to a prom, I have just the dress(es).

  3. What a great outfit! I agree - what's the point in buying something if not to be worn? Especially things like boots and jackets because they should get a lot of wear. Those sunglasses are my fave though!

  4. I need to get my over the knee boots resoled. I agree with you the whole point of making a purchase (at least a smart purchase) is to re-wear them. This year I'm actually trying to make a effort to do less spending and re-wear more of my pieces. Love the whole look as always. Love the plaid scarf with the print of your coat.

  5. Super cute! Any tips on how to wear a scarf like you are in the photo? I like that full look but can't seem to achieve it. Maybe I don't have a large enough scarf? I'm sure I'm over thinking it! Have a great weekend!

  12. Totally agree! It's so much more satisfying to buy something that you continue to love and wear for years. Super cute outfit by the way. I've just bought a mustard jumper on sale from asos that looks just like that one! http://akamidge.blogspot.co.uk/

  13. I'm a huge fan of getting my shoes resoled and generally spruced up (I can't believe it took me until I was 28 to start visiting a cobbler, but now I'm a convert!). Sometimes I get self-conscious about wearing the same pair of black booties over and over again, but I do feel like I'm getting the most out of them because of it. As Vivianne Westwood says, "Buy less. Choose well. Make it last."

  14. Your outfit is fab and my goodness what incredible boots! I am all with you too, clothes were meant to be worn again and again and have their beauty rediscovered in new outfits and different clothing combinations. But I also understand with the vintage dresses!
